Sportsbook: SuperBook
Legal in Arizona: No
Partner in Arizona: Fort Mohave Indian Tribe
Payment methods:

SuperBook Sportsbook was the 10th betting operator to launch in Arizona, and despite launching more than three months after some of the other AZ platforms, it since passed some of those earlier bookmakers in both handle and revenue before it closed on July 19, 2024. Offering a wide range of betting options, competitive odds, and a sleek and organized betting platform, SuperBook delivered an immersive betting experience for both new and experienced bettors.

In this SuperBook Sportsbook review, we highlighted some of the top features of the platform, explained the signup process, and assigned an overall score to the bookie.

Joining SuperBook in Arizona didn’t take more than 5-10 minutes. The bookmaker kept things simple so you could start placing your bets quickly while still providing the information required by law to start playing. Here were the steps you needed to follow.

Once those steps were completed, you could place your wagers after making a deposit into your account.

No, SuperBook Sportsbook is not legal and licensed to operate in Arizona. It had a license from the Arizona Department of Gaming, but it closed in Arizona on July 19, 2024. Additionally, SuperBook had a partnership with the Fort Mohave Indian Tribe before the closure. With both groups monitoring the bookie, AZ bettors were ensured a safe and secure betting environment.

Different types of bets that were available on SuperBook Sportsbook

SuperBook Sportsbook Arizona offered a diverse range of betting options to cater to different preferences. Here were some popular options:

  • Moneyline: The moneyline bet involves choosing the outright winner of a specific game or event. It's a straightforward and commonly used bet type for both novice and experienced bettors.
  • Over/Under: The over/under bet focuses on predicting whether the total score or other statistical factors in a game will be over or under a specific number set by the sportsbook.
  • Parlays: Parlays allow bettors to combine multiple individual bets into a single wager. The potential payout increases with each added selection, but all selections must win for the bet to be successful.
  • Futures: Futures bets involve predicting the outcome of a season-long event or tournament, such as the winner of a championship or the top scorer in a league.

SuperBook betting app in Arizona

Though some Arizona operators had one app for all their players, SuperBook made its app specifically for AZ bettors. This meant you needed to download another app if you wanted to play on your mobile device outside of the state borders.

SuperBook’s betting app in Arizona had a 3.3/5 star rating in the Google Play Store and a 2.9/5 star rating in the iOS App Store. These ratings tended to skew towards the negative as players were more likely to write a review after an extreme emotion and might not always tell the full story of what led to the lower score.

Most of the negative reviews came from players who did not understand the terms and conditions of the welcome bonus. We could not overstate the importance of reading the terms and conditions of the welcome bonus to avoid issues when playing.

If you were not sure you understood the bonus offer correctly, you could check our list of sportsbook welcome offers to read about the latest offers, along with their simplified terms and conditions.

How was the customer service at SuperBook Sportsbook AZ?

Screenshot of SuperBook Arizona Sport section

SuperBook Sportsbook AZ’s customer service was a bit cluttered. The FAQ pages weren’t organized in any logical convention, but they contained helpful information that should get you what you needed and answer any questions you may have had. There wasn’t a chat feature available to help navigate the site or the FAQ pages either. This was an area where SuperBook would have benefited from a complete overhaul.

Outside of that, you could get support via phone call or email. However, neither service was available 24/7, so you had to call or email between 4:00 a.m. PT and 11:00 p.m. PT.

Our expert opinion of SuperBook Sportsbook Arizona

In our expert opinion, SuperBook Sportsbook Arizona was a reasonable choice when odds-shopping for the best lines. However, it may not have become your go-to sportsbook.

As a positive, we appreciated the app’s design and layout. It had a comfortable feel and was intuitive for new players. You weren’t bombarded with bets that didn’t interest you but you still saw some of the daily odds boosts when opening the app.

However, there were some big drawbacks, the biggest of which was the payment options list. Expansion to make withdrawing funds easier would have been a huge benefit as there were only two ways to access funds as of writing. Though SuperBook could have added to this list at some point, there was no indication the company was headed in that direction.

Betting AZ gave SuperBook Sportsbook Arizona an official rating of 3.5 out of 5. This rating was based on the following criteria:

  • Welcome Bonus: Rating 4/5:

The SuperBook Arizona promo offered a generous $250 match for first bets, applicable to a wide range of wagers, but the bonus funds’ redemption and the limited 30-day expiry period could have been more flexible.

  • Payment Options: Rating 3/5: One of the most limited lists in Arizona, SuperBook had just two options to withdraw your winnings. While the payout times were relatively quick, the restrictions to Play+ and PaySafe for withdrawal might have been off-putting to some players, especially when PayPal could be used for deposits only.
  • Sportsbook App: Rating 4/5: SuperBook’s app was still relatively new even as it followed the framework from other states. There hadn’t been many updated versions (just four as of writing), so there might still have been some bugs to work out. That said, the app had a “no-frills” feel. Placing a bet was a straightforward process that was comfortable for new and returning bettors alike.
  • Variety & Features: Rating 3/5: The daily odds boosts for Arizona players were a nice draw and could lead to generous payouts. However, there weren’t many options for secondary sports; the focus seemed to be on the “Big Four” North American sports with international soccer markets after that. Players were also unable to create same-game parlays.
  • Customer Support: Rating 3/5: We found the FAQ pages to be helpful but woefully disorganized. Having them broken down by state would have been much better, as Arizona players might have had a hard time finding what information applied to them compared to other states where SuperBook operated. The lack of 24/7 support was another drawback.
