Denver is the betting favorite, with the spread sitting at -5.5 (-110) at DraftKings AZ. The Over/Under is 37.5 (-110) total points for the game.

Some Things to Consider Before Betting NFL Preseason Football

  • Bankroll Management is key to the sports bettors’ survival. There is plenty of unpredictability in preseason football. I suggest not wagering more than 1-5 percent of your bankroll on any one NFL preseason game.
  • Line Shopping is another essential for Arizona sports bettors. Preseason games see plenty of line movement, and the way to get the best number is to have as many accounts at sports betting apps in Arizona as possible.
  • Following the beat writers and team social media accounts is the best way to learn about player news, injuries, and the coach’s plans for this preseason contest between the Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals.
  • Depth matters in the NFL, and both teams playing Friday are looking to fill certain backup roles. This could greatly affect the final score, and it’s important to pay attention to position battles and veterans like Cardinals RB Marlon Mack looking to make the team.

Denver Broncos Game Notes

Broncos first-year head coach Sean Peyton plans for his offensive and defensive starters to play between 15-18 snaps on Friday night. No word yet on which backup QBs will play or even how many snaps each will play Friday. Peyton told reporters Monday;

“I’ll give that to you later in the week. I don’t look at length, I look at snaps. I don’t know—15 snaps, 17, 18 snaps. Somewhere in there. Phase 1, then Phase 2, then Phase 3. You could be in Phase 1 on offense and Phase 2 on defense because the game started with maybe a lot of plays where your defense was on the field, if that makes any sense. It’s not time in the game, it’s really more of a pitch count for these guys.”

Denver is in need of some depth at wide receiver after the injuries to wideouts Tim Patrick and KJ Hammler. Look for rookie Marvin Mims Jr to see some extra work, and we could also see heavy doses of Marquez Callaway, Brandon Johnson, and Jalen Virgil.

The Broncos are short of defensive depth. We’ll see plenty of rookies and free agents vying for roster spots and playing time.

Arizona Cardinals Game Notes

Arizona starting QB Kyler Murray begins the season on the IL, but the Cardinals have four QBs in camp vying for two of their three spots on the roster. David Blough seems to be set as the starter, but we’ll likely see heavy doses of both Clayton Tune and Colt McCoy Friday.

New Head Coach Jonathon Gannen is high on the second offensive line unit. The backups project to be as good as the first, and there could be some real competition to land a starting spot. This bodes well for a veteran RB trying to make a team like Marlon Mack and rookie Demari Demercado.

The Cardinals’ defense isn’t projected to be very good and will need to replace cornerback Byron Murphy and defensive end Zach Allen. Expect the Cardinals to experiment Friday night and play a bunch of free agents and rookies.
